The Way I Work


I am a therapist who uses different styles of therapy and techniques to help my clients. I continue to learn from every client I meet and have come to realise that no style of therapy is complete in itself and in some way each client will define their own therapy.

Hearing about other people’s experience of counselling raises a common concern, ‘I didn’t get anything back’. Silence and frustration can be a key component in therapy but it needs to be used effectively at the right time. I keep the dialogue going and we share ideas.

Often I will recommend books or things to watch that may help or inspire you and sometimes I will set challenges between sessions (homework isn’t compulsory!).

I work in short-term goal focused therapy and long term relational therapy and with all clients I hold these values throughout:

We will work with the unconscious, understanding the script we have written for ourselves, becoming aware of your unconscious needs and understanding why mistakes are being repeated.

We look to break cycles of thought, feeling and behaviour that hold you back. Sometimes we work on retraining the brain and habits, other times the therapeutic relationship will be what brings about change.
